Dr.W.K.Tushemereirwe is the Director of NARL since 2013. He is an Adjunct Professor of the Queensland University of Technology. He has a PhD(Plant Pathology) from the University of Reading , an Msc - from University of Reading and a BSc - Makerere University. He previously served as a Team Leader of the National Banana Research Program.
Before he served as a Research Officer in the Ministry of Agriculture. He has spearheaded a range of research activities that included: National Coordinator for Banana Xanthomonas wilt control programe, National Coordinator: Project on building capacity for Agriculutural Biotechnology in Uganda, Principal Investigator: Programme on Improvement of Eastern African highland bananas for resistance to pests/disease and improved yield through conventional breeding, etc he has a a number of Publications too
